Dhaka Art Carnival 2023: A Grand Celebration of Art and Creativity

Dhaka, Bangladesh – The Dhaka Art Carnival 2023, a spectacular celebration of art and culture, was held from December 16 to 30, 2023, at the National Sculpture Gallery, Eskaton Garden, Ramna, Dhaka. Curated by Md. Imran Hossen, the event brought together 500 artists and students from across the country, attracting more than 1,000 art enthusiasts who immersed themselves in the vibrant world of creativity.

Distinguished Guests and Management

The grand inauguration of the Dhaka Art Carnival 2023 was led by Professor Jamal Uddin Ahmed, a recipient of Bangladesh’s second-highest civilian award, the Ekushey Padak, and one of the pioneering living master artists of Bangladesh. The event was further graced by Professor Dr. Azharul Islam Chanchal, Dean of the Faculty of Fine Arts, University of Dhaka, as the Special Guest.

The carnival was coordinated by Khadiza Tun Numani, with Nazmul Haque and Alo Bashirullha Mazumdar managing the overall operations, ensuring a seamless execution of this large-scale artistic gathering.

Special Collaborations

A significant highlight of the event was the special collaboration with Shanto-Mariam University of Creative Technology, where students and lecturers from the Faculty of Fine Artsactively participated in workshops and the art camp, contributing to the artistic synergy of the carnival.

A Multifaceted Art Extravaganza

The Dhaka Art Carnival 2023 offered a diverse range of artistic activities, including:
🎨 Art Exhibitions – Showcasing works from emerging and established artists.
🎭 Art Camp & Workshops – Open to all, fostering creativity and skill development.
🎨 Open Studio Program – A special attraction where visitors could paint and create art for free. All necessary materials, including colors, canvases, and other art supplies, were provided by the National Sculpture Gallery, making art accessible to everyone.

The people of Dhaka City embraced the event wholeheartedly, relishing the opportunity to engage with art in a way that was interactive, inclusive, and inspiring. The carnival served as a powerful platform for artistic expression, community engagement, and cultural enrichment, leaving an indelible mark on the city’s vibrant art scene.

With its overwhelming success, Dhaka Art Carnival 2023 has set a new benchmark for artistic events in Bangladesh, reaffirming Dhaka’s position as a thriving hub for contemporary art and creativity
