Kathmandu, Nepal – The much-anticipated Nepal Art Expo-2025, a distinguished international art exhibition, officially opened its doors on January 23 at the Nepal Art Council Gallery 3 & 4, offering an immersive artistic experience that bridges cultures and creativity from around the world. Organized by the Nepal Art Council and curated by renowned Bangladeshi curator Md Imran Hossen, this remarkable event is supported by the Nepal Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA), reaffirming Nepal’s role as a cultural hub for contemporary art.
The grand inauguration ceremony, held at 4:00 PM, was graced by eminent figures from the global art and diplomatic communities. Narad Mani Hartamchhali, Chancellor of NAFA, formally inaugurated the event in the presence of Jamal Uddin Ahmed, Director of Agriculture, Rural Development, and SAARC Development Fund, and Sanjay Rai Bantawa, Academic Council Member and Head of NAFA’s Painting Department. Their presence underscored the significance of the exhibition as a catalyst for artistic dialogue and cross-cultural exchange.
Adding to the international presence, the event was attended by Mohammad Humayun Kabir, Chargé d’Affaires a.i. of the Bangladesh Embassy in Nepal, and AFM Anisur Rahman, Country Manager of Biman Bangladesh Airlines in Kathmandu. Their participation reinforced the strong cultural and artistic ties between Bangladesh and Nepal, fostering deeper bilateral collaboration in the arts.

This year’s expo is a spectacular convergence of creativity, featuring 119 talented artists from 12 different countries, spanning multiple continents. The diverse lineup includes artists from Nepal, Bangladesh, France, England, the USA, Mexico, Canada, Indonesia, Malaysia, Uzbekistan, Poland, Japan, and Argentina. With 78 Nepali and 25 Bangladeshi artists participating, South Asia’s dynamic role in the global art landscape is profoundly highlighted.

Leading up to the grand opening, the Nepal Art Expo-2025 hosted a pre-expo event, “Reel Talks-2025,” on January 9. This engaging forum brought together renowned filmmakers from Canada, Australia, Bangladesh, India, and Nepal to discuss the evolving landscape of short films, cinematographic storytelling, and creative filmmaking techniques.
